Creating your own clozes (fill-in-the-blank exercises) is easy, and allows you to tailor the challenge to meet your students’ needs just so.
You can make cloze exercises with songs or poems, news articles, dialogues—even the text of your usual syllabus.
The possibilities are endless, so choose source material that your students will find interesting, useful, or just plain fun!
TIP: Cloze exercises can be made easier with word banks.
The other thing to remember is that a fill-in-the-blank exercise can be combined with an endless range of other ways of negotiating the target text. Here is the PDF for a lesson I developed that starts out with a cloze exercise, but then does so much more!
