English phonics game CVCs
Tri-It is a phonics game that gives lots of practice with C-V-Cs (consonant-vowel-consonant words). Most of these random three-letter “words” will be nonsense words. Not all teachers favor using nonsense words, but nonsense words allow the children to practice decoding without worrying about meaning. This is especially beneficial to non-native English learners who have limited vocabulary.

And here is a PDF of the board and tiles. You are welcome to print these out and use them in your teaching:

NOTE: I made this PDF at an A4 size (210 × 297 millimeters or 8.27 × 11.69 inches) because many people’s printers can’t handle a bigger size. But if you can enlarge the image and print a larger size, I recommend it. (You can see the size of my playing board and tiles in the video below.)
